The deaf often rely on interpreters to translate speech to sign language, or having the person they are communicating with to understand sign language. When there is no interpreter at hand, the deaf usually read lips to determine what someone is saying, but this is only around 30% effective.

​

We want to remove this reliance on a middleman with SPECTACULARS. These glasses translates speech-to-text as well as sign language-to-speech in real time. This gives the deaf agency in their role as communicators during communication.
