Perspectives:
Quranic Tarots
2016
Perspectives are often formed by an individual; affected by their environment and personal values. This results in people having different opinions regarding certain issues due to their different perspectives. The Quran is no exception to this. This series shows how different groups of people utilise the verses in the Quran to fulfill their own agenda or to fit their perspective. Each card has digits at the top which corresponds to the verse which is being used to strengthen their convictions of God’s “say” to their beliefs and justify their actions.
The Islamophobe “[2:191] And slay them wherever ye catch them..”
The Misogynist “[2:223] Your women are a tilth for you (to cultivate) so go to your tilth as ye will, and send (good deeds) before you for your souls…”
Temperance “[2:286] Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear”
The Feminist “[3:195] Their Lord responded to them: “I never fail to reward any worker among you for any work you do, be you male or female — you are equal to one another.”
The Homosexuals “[4:16] And the two who commit it among you, dishonor them both. But if they repent and correct themselves, leave them alone. Indeed, Allah is ever Accepting of repentance and Merciful.”
The Scholar “[38:29] … (They) may ponder over its Verses, and that those of understanding would be reminded.”
